This article came at a pivotal moment for me personally – I’m shifting from one function within my bank to another.

The tripartite balance lens reveals a great deal in retrospect:

- Why and how we let down Business Units, forcing them to source their own solutions outside of our offerings.

- The wastefulness of overengineering entirely new, bespoke solutions for each BUs needs that then ended up getting hardly used

- The total absence of looking to enable future strategic possibilities for the different BUs

These are key lessons I’ll take with me as I move to my next functional leadership role.
